Earlyasset Capital is co-founded and managed by Shawn Bercuson and Alex Lurie. Between them, fifteen years of experience on every side of the venture secondary market.
The Earlyasset Capital team has been on every side of a secondary transaction — as sellers in 2010, as investors throughout the 2010s, and as builders of the infrastructure that makes the modern market work. That experience shapes how we underwrite, how we communicate, and how we partner with both LPs and shareholders.
Shawn co-founded Earlyasset Capital in 2026 after more than fifteen years in the venture secondary market. He joined the founding team of Groupon in 2007 and became one of the early sellers of private shares in 2010, navigating an unstructured market with limited tools and high friction. That experience set the foundation for everything that came next.
From 2014 onward, Shawn moved from seller to investor — including an early secondary position in One Medical, which IPO'd on Nasdaq in 2020 and validated the thesis. In 2021, he founded BullVC, a secondary fund whose portfolio includes Onfido, MNTN, DailyPay, Greenlight, and others, sharpening the underwriting framework that informs the Law of 30 today. In 2025, he founded Earlyasset.com to build modern infrastructure for the venture secondary market, and in 2026, he launched Earlyasset Capital alongside Alex Lurie as the exclusive financial partner.
LinkedIn ↗Alex co-founded Earlyasset Capital alongside Shawn Bercuson in 2026. He brings four years of direct venture secondary experience from 137 Ventures, a $3B+ AUM growth-stage venture capital firm specializing in secondary investments, where he served as Director of Legal and Business Affairs from 2021 to 2025 — spearheading business development, legal, and operational initiatives at one of the most established players in the space.
Before 137 Ventures, Alex spent five years as a corporate attorney at AmLaw 100 firms — Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP and McGuireWoods LLP — advising private equity sponsors, private credit investors, and Fortune 500 corporations on transactions, restructurings, and Chapter 11 proceedings. The combined experience makes him a rare practitioner with deep fluency in both the deal mechanics and the legal architecture of venture secondaries.
Alex holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Stanford University and a J.D., magna cum laude, from William & Mary Law School, where he was elected to Order of the Coif and served on Law Review.
